The signature hole the club lists as 2A (170 yards) sits on this nine.

Elevation change means the yardage on the card is not enough to pick a club. Playing downhill or uphill changes the effective distance.

The Lake nine

This nine asks for accuracy along the water.

Every decision around water reduces, in the end, to carrying it or avoiding it. Decide on the tee, then swing.

Hesitating mid-swing produces a half-hearted strike, and the ball finds the water.

The Valley nine

You play between mature trees, with strong bunkering and clearly defined landing areas.

Take too much club downhill and you fly the green; take too little uphill and you find the front bunker. Ask the caddie for the playing distance.

2. Swinging without a decision on the Lake nine

If you have not settled on carrying or avoiding the water, the swing decelerates and the ball goes in. Make the call on the tee before you set up.

3. Underestimating the trees on the Valley nine

Thirty years since 1995. The trees are fully grown. The moment your tee shot leaves the fairway, attacking the green directly may no longer be an option.

4. Playing night golf with daytime instincts

Even under lights, depth perception differs. Reference points are harder to see, distance judgement drifts, and you need to rely on your caddie more than you would at noon.

5. Underestimating how long the round takes

A 700-acre site, with cart transfers between holes. A round here runs long by Japanese standards. Leave room in your schedule afterwards.

About 30 minutes from Pattaya

According to the club, it is roughly 30 minutes from Pattaya and 109 km from Bangkok.
