Peter Dalkeith Scott

Peter Dalkeith Scott is an Australian architect who has spent his career master-planning resorts and designing golf courses in Southeast Asia. He came to course design less as a golf specialist than as the man responsible for pulling a whole resort together, from the planning of the site through to its buildings and landscape. By his own account on LinkedIn, he was in 1988 the youngest director of a multi-disciplinary consultancy in Sydney. At thirty he put it to the firm that Southeast Asia was where property development would go next and that they should open in Singapore; every one of his partners said no, and he left with his shareholding valued at half its worth.

In Singapore he began PDSI (Peter Dalkeith Scott International) from a single desk rented at USD 250 a month. The first commission came from a plantation owner in Johor, Malaysia, who wanted a master plan for his farmland and a golf course to go with it. That became Pulai Springs Resort. By Scott’s recollection the resort was named the finest golf course in Johor by the Singapore Business Times, was included in The Finest Golf Resorts in the World Collection 1999-2000 compiled by the St Andrews association in Scotland, and in 2000 was chosen as a Top International Leisure Development by the Paris-based international real estate federation.

The Melana Course at Pulai Springs Country Club opened in 1993, and Where2Golf records it as a par 72 of 6,582 yards from the back tees. It worked with the fall of the hills, and its small, quick greens sat in among the trees. Water crossed the fairway at the 15th, 17th and 18th, which made for a hard finish. Where2Golf states, however, that the courses at Pulai Springs closed in 2019 and that most of the Melana layout has since been ploughed over. It can no longer be played.

From 2003 to 2023 he worked as a golf course and landscape architect at Olazabal Design, the practice of the Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal. He now heads a Dubai-based development company with projects around the world, and lives with his family at Mawson Lakes in Adelaide, Australia. In 2025 he gave his view to the Australian press, as an expert, on the scale of tree clearing proposed in the redevelopment of his local North Adelaide Golf Course.

Two of the courses listed on GoGolf are his, one in Malaysia and one in Indonesia. Monterez Golf & Country Club at Shah Alam opened in 1994, a par 71 of 5,738 metres from the blue tees. The Malaysian booking site Liberty Golf calls it a course for the thinking golfer: what it gives away in length it takes back with narrow fairways, sharp doglegs, bunkers, ponds and out of bounds. Bandar Kemayoran Golf in Jakarta opened in 1997, a par 72 of 6,024 yards from the blue tees. It lies inside the Kemayoran redevelopment district (PPK Kemayoran) near the centre of Jakarta, fitting eighteen holes onto a tight urban site.
