Fred Couples is a professional golfer and a golf course architect, born on October 3, 1959 at Seattle in Washington. His full name is Frederick Steven Couples, and he came out of the University of Houston. He is known to everyone as Boom Boom. He won the Masters in 1992, and from March of that year he held the world number one ranking for sixteen weeks in all. On the PGA Tour he won fifteen times, two of them The Players Championship, in 1984 and in 1996. He was picked for the United States Ryder Cup side five times between 1989 and 1997, and he captained the American team at the Presidents Cup in 2009 and again in 2013. After turning fifty he won fourteen times on the senior tour (PGA Tour Champions), taking the Senior Players Championship in 2011 and the Senior Open Championship in 2012. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2013.

His design work began in 1992, when he joined forces with the architect Gene D. Bates. Their firm, Couples Bates Golf Design, now Bates Golf Design Group, has built more than twenty championship courses around the world. San Juan Oaks Golf Club at Hollister in California opened in 1996, and the club describes the course as the work of Couples together with Bates. Kelly Plantation at Destin in Florida, Carolina National Golf Club in North Carolina and Westfields Golf Club at Clifton in Virginia are theirs as well. At Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley, California, which opened in 2001 and closed in 2016, Couples came in as a consultant on the two courses designed by Pete Dye. Bates Golf Design Group explains that on any course carrying the Couples name, his own thinking about design and strategy runs through the work from first to last.

GoGolf does not at present list any course designed by Fred Couples.
