Bernhard Langer is a professional golfer and a golf course architect, born on August 27, 1957 at Anhausen in Bavaria, then part of West Germany and now part of Diedorf. He has won two majors, the Masters of 1985 and of 1993. When the world ranking — today’s Official World Golf Ranking — was introduced in 1986, he was the first player to stand at number one. He has won 42 times on the European Tour, second most in its history, and on the senior circuit, PGA Tour Champions, he holds the record with 47 wins, twelve of them senior majors. He played ten Ryder Cups for Europe and, as captain in 2004, led the European side to victory. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002 and made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2006.

His design work is carried on in partnership with the European firm European Golf Design. Portmarnock Links, outside Dublin in Ireland, is a course Langer designed with Stan Eby of European Golf Design, and it opened in 1995. Langer won the Irish Open three times in all, at the nearby Portmarnock Golf Club and at The Royal Dublin Golf Club. The course was renamed Jameson Golf Links in 2023. The Dunes Course at Costa Navarino, on the Peloponnese in Greece, is another design with European Golf Design; it opened in May 2010 and is said to be the first signature course in Greece. In Germany, his own country, he designed Golfanlage Schloss Nippenburg at Schwieberdingen outside Stuttgart, which opened in 1995.

In Asia he won as a player once on the Japan tour, in 1983, and once on the Asian PGA Tour, in 1996. GoGolf does not at present list any course designed by Langer.
